WEST MICHIGAN — The National Weather Service issued a number of Severe Thunderstorm Warnings for parts of West Michigan on Wednesday, August 3, and most of the FOX 17 viewing area remains under a Severe Thunderstorm Watch.

Track the storms through the FOX 17 radar.

Watch Wednesday afternoon's Facebook live coverage of the storm:

The Storm Prediction Center has placed West Michigan under a "slight" risk for severe weather today. Locations under the "slight" risk have an overall greater threat for severe weather.

There may be a couple of waves of showers and storms! A warm front lifting through the area this morning is touching off storms just to our north, and some of those may trickle into our northern counties this morning. While a few storms could be on the stronger side this morning, the severe weather potential is more likely in the second wave with an associated cold front this afternoon and evening.

The main threats include damaging wind gusts up to 65 mph and hail over an inch in diameter. An isolated tornado can't be ruled out with these passing storms. Heavy downpours could lead to localized flooding, as well.
