ZEELAND, Mich. — Zeeland West boys basketball is raising the bar for expecations within the program. The Dux went 15-6 last season and return four starters.

"Obviously our goal is to keep things moving forward," fourth-year head coach David Klyn said. "We want to focus on getting better every single day."

"People are starting to see who Zeeland West is as a basketball program instead of just a football program," senior guard Eli Steffen said. "It feels great as a basketball player, it is a little extra pressure but we seem to be handling it well in practice."

The OK Green will once again be tough with defending state champion Unity Christian, Holland Christian and a much improved Zeeland East team, but the Dux will return four starters this season.

"It's always competitive," Steffen added, "the OK Green is known for that, Unity was crazy tough last year, they lost a lot of great players, but can't sleep on anyone in this conference. I'm excited, it's going to be fun all year."

"There's not going to be any easy games in the OK Green this year," senior Travis Vredeveld said, "every team is special in their own way, we just have to stick to the little things and what we can do, I think it'll turnout really well for us."

Zeeland West opens the season on Tuesday at West Ottawa.
