GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Roger D. Beyer, M.D., has been sentenced to 57 months in prison for healthcare fraud, according to the U.S Attorney’s Office.
Beyer will spend an additional year behind bars “for the adulteration of medical devices.”
“Dr. Beyer and the other defendants engaged in a course of fraudulent conduct for many years, despite multiple warnings,” says U.S. Attorney Andrew B. Birge. “But their greed-fueled misconduct didn’t just hurt the Medicare program. … They recklessly risked the lives and health of their patients.”
We’re told Dr. Beyer and his practices will pay a civil settlement fee of $610,000 within five days.
