GRANT, Mich. — Tim and Cindy Hughes love seeing their grandchildren. but with the family scattered across the United States, getting everyone together is a big challenge. That was before the Coronavirus Pandemic started.
Now more than a hundred miles from their nearest grandkid, the Hughes looked for a way to connect with the people closest to their hearts.
A recent story about a family exercising together gave them an idea.
"Each one choosing one card, and they'll show it, and then according to the chart that we came up with this chart that we came up with, they know that if they choose a heart. We'll do jumping jacks to whatever number it is. And if it's a spade it's a high knees activity. So they're all interacting in with it," said Cindy.
Now three times a week, the Hughes host 'Exercise Fun with Grandma and Grandpa,' taking all the grandkids through some workouts that everyone, from the 3 year old to the teenagers, can handle.
"If we're talking to them the night before something they remind us that we're doing exercise in the morning and, and, you know, it's kind of fun to, to have them show that excitement of wanting to to to get together and share with their cousins and those types of things."
The Hughes want other families to take time to do things together. They've published how they organize the workouts online. Just click the links here for details.
