GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — West Michigan's largest public transportation authority is about to get a new person in the driver's seat.

The Rapid announced Friday that Deborah Prato will serve as the new Chief Executive Officer.

According to a release, Prato has more than 30 years of experience in the public sector, including a decade as an executive in public transportation. The Rapid did not disclose where Prato has worked outside of saying the northeast United States.

“Deborah Prato brings the necessary leadership experience and skills to guide and implement The Rapid’s planned services for meeting the needs of West Michigan for years to come,” said Stephen Kepley, the Mayor of Kentwood and Chair of The Rapids' Board of Directors.

“I am honored and humbled to be appointed CEO of The Rapid,” said Prato. “Together and alongside all of the dedicated employees at The Rapid, we have the talent to continue to deliver exceptional service to our customers and create extraordinary value by connecting our communities.”

Current interim CEO Win Irwin is expected to worth with Prato as she transitions into her new role. She beings work on March 8, 2021.
