GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Grand Rapids police are investigating a fire that killed a woman as a homicide.
Christina Field, 49, died after the Jennette Street home caught fire Monday morning. Her husband, 54-year-old Steven Field, was also injured and is still in critical condition at Spectrum Butterworth Hospital.
Officials haven’t said what caused the fire.
On Tuesday, investigators said an autopsy determined Christina Field’s death was a homicide. Detectives haven’t been able to talk to him about the fire that killed his wife because of the severity of his injuries.
Court records show Christina Field had filed for divorce and a personal protection order against her husband this year. The documents accuse Steven Field of stalking and harassing his wife and ask the court to grant a restraining order against him.
Anyone with information on the case is asked to call the Grand Rapids Police Department at 616-456-3400 or Silent Observer at 616-774-2345.
