GRAND RAPIDS, Mich — A driven and creative teenager is looking for a family to cheer her on, no matter what she’s doing.
FOX 17 continues our Forever Home series, working to help find adoptive families for kids in Michigan’s foster care system.
13-year-old Elizabeth is very confident and likes watching makeup tutorials on Youtube, so we took her to Makeup BLVD and Salon to get a one-on-one lesson.
“I feel like I’m getting ready for a movie, " Elizabeth said.
The day was all about some A-list treatment for a girl with big dreams.
She said, “I’m gonna go to Duke University because they've got the best medical school."
Elizabeth is in 7th grade and loves to express herself though singing, dancing, and writing.
“I like to write stories and stuff. Right now, I’m writing a story. It's fantastic, it's going well."
She said doing makeup on herself and her friends is another way to get creative.
“When I get it done, I just feel like I’m a movie star, like I’m a super star."
The teen is caring, kind, and really values her friendships.
She said, “We talk, like do girl talks and stuff. It just feels amazing to have a lot of friends that get along with me. We're really close and have good relationships and we bond."
It’s a connection she’d like to bring to others as a doctor when she grows up.
“I want to help other women who are going through a lot to pursue their dreams. I want to help their kids become better a better person," she said.
She’d also love a strong mother-figure to look up to in a forever family.
Elizabeth said, “I would actually feel excited, I’ve been in residential for almost 4 years now."
Her ideal family would be near and tidy like she is, but most importantly she want’s do things together… especially if it means taking trips.
“I’ve never been out of state and I love water and the oceans," she said.
