BARRY COUNTY, Mich. — Jon Otis Burnett, 64, has been sentenced to life in prison after being convicted of 34 charges, including two counts of murder in the first degree.

Burnett was found guilty back in August for the 2019 murders of Gary Peake, 73, and Bryce DeGood, 21, according to Barry County Prosecutor Julie Nakfoor Pratt.

“It is our hope that the wonderful memories Gary Peake and Bryce DeGood left here will continue to touch so many lives just as they did in life,” says Pratt. “We hope of all of the victims and their families find some closure with the conclusion of the trial and sentence, and our greatest hope is that they can someday find the peace they so deserve.”
