BYRON CENTER, Mich. — One little boy who spent the last three and a half years fighting cancer took his last treatment on Tuesday.

Surrounded by friends and family, 7-year-old Tyler Bugai took his last treatment in pill form at Douglas Walker Park in Byron Center. He was diagnosed with a form of leukemia and suffered through various side effects during treatment.

"He went through chemo this whole time and he also went through brain radiation," said Tyler's mom, Mel.

His family held the gathering, complete with masks and social distancing.

"It’s incredible. It’s incredible to have a support network and get through this together. They have been here with us every step of the way."

Bugai took his final treatment at 7:30 p.m.

"No more grumpies, no more weight, no painful legs. You’re all done," said his mom.
