BELMONT, Mich. — Marie Ryan says when she heard about the 14 year old in Muskegon who was hit getting on the school bus, she was heartbroken.

“I feel bad for that parent of the 14-year-old boy that’s in the hospital. I do. I truly do feel for them,” Marie Ryan said.

Marie lives on West River Drive in Belmont. In front of her house, the speed limit is 55 miles per hour. But Marie says she regularly sees people speeding right by school buses.

Wednesday morning, Marie decided to record her kid as they got on the bus. Three cars sped by the bus, which was stopped with it's red lights on.

She says her biggest worry is her child could be the next to be hit. “Because, when is it going to be my kid, or me? Down here? Or the next kindergartner down the road getting hit?”

Ryan is hoping that her pointing out that this problem is commong across West Michigan, more people will remember to stop for the bus.
