West Catholic blows out Menominee for 4th straight state championship

DETROIT — West Catholic forced five first-half turnovers and scored 23 points off of them in a 43-7 win over Menominee in the Division 5 state championship game.

Junior quarterback Gaetano Vallone was 13-20 through the air for 311 yards and 4 touchdowns he also ran 13 times for 83 yards and a score.  He finishes 32 yards short of the state finals record for total offense while sitting most of the fourth quarter.

Senior Receiver Sam Neville had two receiving touchdowns and two interceptions, all in the first half.  Junior kicker Liam Putz got the scoring started with a 47-yard field goal.

West Catholic becomes just the sixth school in state history to win four consecutive state titles.
