GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -- Months ago, the Michigan Department of Transportation said double lane closures would occasionally be required some weekends on US-131 in Grand Rapids. That time has come:
US-131 from Ann Street to Pearl Street
- Double lane closures southbound.
- Friday 9 p.m. to no later than Monday 5 a.m.
- Detour: There's no graceful way to get around this one. Expect backups to begin at West River Drive or farther north.
US-131 from 28th Street to Wealthy Street
- Double lane closures northbound
- Friday 9 p.m. to no later than Monday 5 a.m.
- Detour: You have options. Exit anywhere and take either Division Avenue north to Wealthy Street or Clyde Park Avenue to Grandville Avenue to Market Avenue.
Other weekend projects will slow traffic at other locations on other expressways:
I-96 west of Plainfield Avenue
- Single lane closure westbound at Cheney Avenue.
- Friday 8 p.m. to no later than Monday 6 a.m.
I-96 west of the Ionia exit 67
- Single right lane closures westbound.
- From M-66 to the Saranac Rest Area.
- Friday 9 p.m. to no later than Monday 5 a.m.
54th Street over US-131
- Bridge closed.
- Ramps to US-131 northbound and southbound closed.
- Freeway not affected.
- Friday 9 p.m. to no later than 7 a.m. Monday.
