GRAND RAPIDS, Mich — Cornerstone University pitcher Ben Sheckler was taken in the 8th round of the MLB Draft by the Sand Diego Padres on Friday.
Sheckler just finished his junior year for the Golden Eagles with a 6-4 record, a 2.89 E.R.A. and 77 strikeouts in 67 innings. He was named first team all-whac.
A left-handed starting pitcher for Cornerstone, Sheckler prepped at Sparta High School and becomes the first Cornerstone baseball player to be drafted in school history.
