GRAND RAPIDS, Mich.-Paul Lovell may be Kent County's oldest man.  Although unable to confirm it, Paul's Granddaughter Liz English believes that to be the case.  To celebrate his birthday today, English brought her grandfather 106 cards to celebrate his 106th birthday.  The cards came from a group of 2nd and 3rd graders at Collins Elementary in the Forest Hills School District.  The students are  part of a pen pal group that sends and receives letters back and forth with the residents of Clark Retirement Community where Paul Lovell lives in Grand Rapids.

Paul, who says he has a lot of reading to do now to get through all the cards, says he doesn't really have many secrets to his longevity except maybe his breakfast routine.  "Oatmeal every morning," he told FOX 17 Wednesday.

In his working days, Paul was a home builder and was involved in education, but when he spoke about his career, it appears he was talking about a lot more than just his job.

"Building houses is the best thing to do because you can drive down to the end of the block, stop and turn around look back and see that you have accomplished something,"  Lovell said.

At 106 years, and counting, Paul Lovell has accomplished a lot.
