Calhoun deputy enters plea after shocking display upon arrest

KALAMAZOO, Mich. – Published reports indicate that Calhoun County Deputy Noemi Garza plead not guilty to several misdemeanor charges in a Kalamazoo County District Court Friday, after police dashcam video shows the 32-year-old belligerently resisting arrest.
Garza, who was arrested on June 13, is accused of operating a car while intoxicated, hit and run, and resisting arrest. In the video, Garza can be seen swearing at arresting officers and squirming to get out of her handcuffs in the back of a police vehicle.
Although she refused an initial test to determine her blood-alcohol content, a later blood test revealed she had a BAC of 0.17 – more than twice the legal limit of 0.08 for drivers in the state of Michigan.
