GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. --Tom Reminga came up with his invention, Flush Down,  after staying with a friend.

His friend's dog kept drinking out of the toilet because Reminga couldn't remember to close the seat and lid.

Two years later, and he's a finalist for an online vote that ended Wednesday afternoon for his invention, a device that automatically lowers the seat and cover once the toilet is flushed.

The award is approximately $20,000 worth of advertising and national publicity, but it's clear his product is on its way to becoming a big hit.  He's about to start selling it on his website and is also having discussions with big retailers like Bed, Bath & Beyond, and QVC.

Reminga hasn't decided on the exact price yet, but he tells us it'll be around $75 plus shipping for the online sales.  For more information on Flush Down, go to the website www.flush-down.com.
