KALAMAZOO, Mich. — The most popular dog names in Kalamazoo County are Buddy, Max, and Lucy, according to data from the country treasurer’s office.
The office issued a top 20 list for 2014 based on dog license registrations:

- Daisy
- Bella
- Molly
- Sadie
- Zoey
- Maggie
- Lilly
- Bailey
- Charlie
- Sophie
- Riley
- Toby
- Roxy
- Chloe
- Abbie
- Gracie
- Cocoa
The list compares somewhat favorably with national data from the American Kennel Club, which lists Max and Buddy as third and fifth most popular names for male dogs and Bella as the second most popular female dog name. But AKC registration statistics may applly only to registered breeds, while Kalamazoo’s data would include, *ahem*, mutts.
Among the most unique dog names, the treasurer’s office lists Dumbledore, Paco Bell, and Badunkadunk.
