KALAMAZOO, Mich (August 4, 2014) -- Kalamazoo Christian and Hackett Catholic Central decided they needed to merge their football teams due to declining numbers.

This season they will play football together and be called Kalamazoo United, their colors will be black and white, their logo will be a U with one leg green for Hackett and the other purple for K-Christian.

The team does not have a nickname yet, they have discussed it but have not made a decision.

Steve Ouding will be the teams head coach, he served as K-Christian's head coach the last 7 years. John Blankenship, who coached Hackett last season, is staying on as the teams offensive coordinator.

The team has been together all summer for strength and conditioning and say they have grown a strong bond.
