GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Lane closures are scheduled again on westbound I-196 at the Grand River, and bridge work in Zeeland will cause lane closures on the same highway.

As with last weekend, work will take place on the bridge that carries westbound I-196 over the Grand River at Market Avenue, which will cause backups at peak traffic times. And you should be aware that work will be ongoing the whole weekend, so speed limits in the work zone will drop to 45 miles per hour.

The lane closure is scheduled to begin Friday at 9 p.m. and end by 5 a.m. Monday.

Meanwhile, work will resume Saturday on the bridge that carries westbound I-196 over 96th Avenue near Zeeland. That lane closure is scheduled to begin Saturday at 10 a.m. and finish by Sunday 4 p.m.

In the same area, a lane closure will pop up Sunday afternoon on westbound I-196 from 64th Avenue to 96th Avenue as part of the ongoing repaving project. The barrels will be pulled back to allow for two lanes of traffic by Monday 3 p.m.
