PAW PAW, Mich. — Dogs serving in the Van Buren County Sheriff’s Department K9 unit will be getting some protection soon, courtesy of a Massachusetts organization.
Three protective vests designed to shield police dogs from bullets and stabbings have been awarded to the Van Buren County Sheriff’s Department by the group Vested Interest In K9s, Inc. The group’s web site says they have raised enough money to provide vests to 404 dogs to date.
Each vest would have cost the department $950.
The Armour Express vests are made in Michigan.
