South Haven Museum Honors Michigan Waterways

SOUTH HAVEN, Mich.-  Water.  Michigan is surrounded by and filled with it. The Michigan Maritime Museum,in South Haven embraces the rich history, putting it on display. Throughout five separate buildings, there are engaging opportunities for the Museum visitor, including permanent and changing exhibits on Michigan maritime history, a center for the teaching of boat building and related maritime skills along with a research library.

On Friday, May 24 at 5:30 p.m., The Blessing of the Fleet will kick off another season for all of the Michigan Maritime Museum boats: the Friends Good Will, the Lindy Lou, the Little Belt, and others. The ceremony will be held on the dock and will be overseen by a local clergyman.

Another upcoming event, is The Vessel Salute which will kickoff the Classic Boat Show and South Haven’s Harborfest weekend. There will be a parade featuring Michigan Maritime vessels, private vessels and guests of the Classic Boat Show.
