BATTLE CREEK, Mich. — A police officer who was arraigned in April and alcohol related charges has resigned.

Jennifer Appl was arraigned April 9 for drunk driving and possessing a firearm while intoxicated. She had reported for work, but fellow officers smelled alcohol on her breath.

Appl was also involved in an incident where she was the passenger in a drunk driving crash in 2012 that involved another Battle Creek officer.

Appl resigned Monday and still faces the driving and possession charges.
