WRIGHT TOWNSHIP, Mich. — A teenager was struck Thursday morning near a country intersection north of Marne.
The teen was taken to Spectrum Butterworth hospital in Grand Rapids in critical condition.
A Coopersville school bus had stopped, and the boy and his brother were trying to get to the bus. There were nine other students aboard the bus. They weren’t hurt, but a crisis team was made available at Coopersville high school.
The driver of the vehicle that struck the teen was released from the scene, and police did not immediately say the driver was at fault.
The scene when a FOX 17 news crew arrived (see photo) indicated 8th Avenue near Arthur Street was blocked, with a school bus stopped in one lane with other vehicles, included police, in the other lane.
The first calls were taken by dispatchers shortly before 7 a.m.
