CASSOPOLIS, Mich. — Power is back on for about 4,800 customers who lost power Sunday night in areas around Mattawan, Schoolcraft, Vicksburg and Kalamazoo.
The power company, Midwest Energy Cooperative, blamed other power companies for the outage. In a release, MEC explained that it distributes energy to customers, but other utilities provide the power, and MEC was not responsible for the outage.
“We were limited in what we knew and what we could do to help because it’s not our line and not our crews,” said Mike Roush, vice president of operations, in the release.
Power was restored around 4:20 a.m. after being out since 7 p.m. Sunday.
Midwest Energy Cooperative serves more than 35,000 customers in 11 counties in southern Michigan, northern Indiana, and Ohio.
