West Michigan skiers hitting the slopes after freeze

BELMONT, Mich. — At Cannonsburg Ski Area in Belmont, it's been a rough winter.

“Everyone in Michigan knows…we’ve been dealing with warm ups, and rain, and this is what we live for at Cannonsburg,” marketing director Danielle Musto said.

They haven't been able to make snow for skiers, either. It's simply been too warm. Sunday, the cold air was welcomed back with long lines at the lift.

“We’re so happy cold temperatures are back,” Musto said.

Kids at Cannonsburg are happy with the cold, too.

Ten-year-old Tate Lawry got to race his dad on the ski hill for just the second time this year.

“There’s not been that much snow, it’s fun to finally get out here when there is snow,” Tate Lawry said.
