WEST MICHIGAN — A major hurricane will create massive devastation across Jamaica over the next couple of days.

As of early Sunday morning, "Melissa" had strengthened into a Category 4 hurricane; and is projected to intensify into a Category 5 hurricane before making landfall late Monday into early Tuesday.

After crossing Jamaica, Hurricane Melissa is projected to cross eastern Cuba; likely still as a powerful Category 4 hurricane. After crossing Cuba, Hurricane Melissa will begin to accelerate and will begin moving to the east; not making a direct hit to the United States.
