WYOMING, Mich. — Wyoming Public Safety responded to an accident on 28th Street Tuesday evening with serious injuries reported.

They say a vehicle pulled out of a parking lot and struck an eastbound motorcycle carrying two riders. Both motorcycle riders sustained injuries, but the operator’s leg was “severely wounded.”

Wyoming Police Sergeant Chris DeBoer, who officials say was off duty when the incident occurred, rushed to the motorcycle operator and applied a tourniquet to the wounded leg, likely saving that person’s life.

The motorcycle operator was later taken to a nearby hospital. The driver of the vehicle was uninjured in the crash. Officials say no charges have been issued as of yet, and the cause of the accident is currently being investigated.
