WASHINGTON D.C. — Lady Gaga, Garth Brooks and Jennifer Lopez all performed Wednesday during the inauguration of President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris.
Starting things off was Lady Gaga singing the national anthem. She wore a large metallic dove carrying an olive branch on her chest, tweeting a photo of it Wednesday afternoon with the caption, "May we all make peace with each other."
Jennifer Lopez performed several American standards alongside the United States Marine Band. She sang renditions of both "This Land is Your Land" and "America the Beautiful."
The man tasked with wiping down the podium in between speakers was being discussed on social media as Inauguration Day went on. This was one of many health precautions put in place for the day because of continued concerns over COVID-19.
But he couldn't draw any focus away from one of Wednesday's most anticipated moments, Garth Brooks. Brooks sang Amazing Grace and made a call for the country to come together, saying during his performance, "I'm going to ask you to sing this last verse with me, not just the people here but the people at home, work, as one. United.”
There are several other performances and speakers scheduled Wednesday, many of which will be livestreamed on President Biden's Inaugural Committee's Facebook page.
