CASS COUNTY, Mich. — A teenager has died after being struck by a pickup truck while riding a scooter a week earlier.
The Cass County Sheriff’s Office said Saturday morning that Samuel Gonzalez, 17, of Niles had died of his injuries at Memorial Hospital in South Bend, Ind.
At 6:58 p.m. Jan. 8, the teen was riding a non-motorized scooter on U.S. 12 near the off-ramp of M-60 in Milton Township when he was hit by the passing truck. The driver stopped and called 9-1-1.
Gonzalez originally was transported to Lakeland Hospital in Niles in stable condition.
