GRAND HAVEN, Mich. — Protestors against Pronto Pups’ Grand Haven location gathered Thursday afternoon.
Organizers say on the event’s Facebook page that the owner’s recent comments are “absolutely disgusting” and not welcome in Grand Haven.
The owner, Carl Nelson, said in a Facebook post he would rather the health department shut him down than have his employees wear masks -- which he says isn't a health issue but a political one. It's among several comments he's made, including about the Black Lives Matter movement and the issue of scaling back police department funding.
He has since apologized for his comments.
Pronto Pup supporters also gathered.
