HOLLAND TOWNSHIP, Mich. — Authorities have identified a West Ottawa High School student who died after being hit by a vehicle while walking to her bus stop Wednesday.
The crash happened around 7:12 a.m. on James Street near Beech Street in Holland Township. Authorities say 16-year-old Aline Mapendo was walking in the road when she was hit by an eastbound vehicle.
She was taken to the hospital after the crash, where she was pronounced dead.
The driver told responding deputies she didn’t see Mapendo until the time of impact.
