ZEELAND TOWNSHIP, Mich. — Fire officials are working to determine what sparked a fire at a business overnight.

It happened around 2 a.m. Friday at Koeman Excavating, 5180 Chicago Drive in Zeeland Township, according to the Jamestown Township fire chief.

We're told five different departments responded to the fire.

The owners, Brian Koeman and his wife Jan, tell FOX 17 they had built the pole barn about a year ago.

Koeman says they had just started a new business called Shoreline Rocks which transports rock from the U.P. to West Michigan for people dealing with erosion.

The fire chief on scene says the building appears to be a total loss.

As of right now, officials say it doesn't appear that anyone was inside the building.

No word on what sparked the fire.
