MUSKEGON, Mich. — This week you have a chance to take part in a 10-mile open water swimming event on the Muskegon Lakeshore.
The She Shall Swim event is taking place Wednesday, July 8 starting at 8 a.m. til about 3 p.m. at the Grand Trunk Launch Ramp, located at Lakeshore Drive and McCracken street in Muskegon's Lakeside neighborhood.
The event allows people to explore the popular public access points on the lake, most of which are restored shoreline habitats.
The goal of the event is to bring awareness on the need for environmentally responsible and public outdoor recreational uses of Grand Trunk and other lakeshore properties.
Organizers say the event will also include discussion for the future of the Grand Trunk, Lakeshore Fitness Center and other shoreline properties to include public access to water for residents of the community
