MUSKEGON, Mich. — Muskegon Bike Time cancelled its massive event for the first time in 13 years.
The cancellation comes after parts of the state move backwards in the grand phased-reopening schedule set forth by Governor Whitmer.
Organizers say they tried to keep the event alive for the mid-July dates, making preparations to keep event-goers safe, but in the end the decision came down to the fluctuating COVID-19 regulations and hot-spots popping up in populated areas.
"But because of the uncertainty of the situation we agree that it would not be prudent for the event to take place and possibly put people’s safety in jeopardy." The organizers shared in a release.
The organizers are moving on to planning next year's festivities.
