SOUTH HAVEN, Mich. — Police are saying tonight a woman found dead this week in South Haven was the wife of the man charged in her murder case.
The victim has been identified as Kimberly Halstead, 48, who was married to Randy Halstead, 36, of South Haven, according to the South Haven Police Department today.
Randy Halstead is charged with open murder and as a habitual offender after allegedly killing his wife on Wednesday evening.
On Aug. 19 at about 11 p.m., officers responded to a 911 call about an unconscious woman at a residence on Pearl Street, according to the South Haven Police Department yesterday.
Officers at the scene determined the woman was dead and that "foul play was involved."
On Aug. 20, South Haven police arrested Randy Halstead.
Halstead was transported and lodged at Van Buren County Jail and was arraigned on Aug. 21 in the 7th District Court. He remains lodged at the jail.
Police said today his preliminary examination hearing is scheduled for Sept. 2.
South Haven Police were assisted by the Van Buren County Sheriff's Department.
