KALAMAZOO, Mich. — A person has been hospitalized and a local business damaged after a reckless gun discharge caused two vehicles to crash in Kalamazoo.
At 7:40 p.m. on Saturday, officers responded to a report of shots fired from a vehicle on East Kalamazoo Avenue near Kalamazoo Coffee.
When authorities arrived, they found the vehicles off to the side with heavy damage. Upon further investigation, they discovered that one of the vehicles had swerved to avoid getting hit by gunfire. They had crashed into another vehicle headed west on East Kalamazoo Avenue.
Witnesses say that people driving a large black SUV were firing a weapon as they drove by.
Neither of the vehicles that crashed were otherwise involved with the shots fired. A passenger was injured in the crash, but was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. One local business was damaged as a result of gunfire, but no one inside was injured.
