KALAMAZOO, Mich. — A man has been sentenced for leading Kalamazoo County deputies on a chase and ramming into their cruisers.

Robert Brockman Jr. was sentenced to 18 months to 15 years on Monday after pleading guilty to second-degree fleeing and eluding and malicious destruction of police property. He is receiving credit with 159 days served.

The chase happened in July in Comstock Township when Brockman sped away from Michigan State Police troopers. Kalamazoo County deputies tried to stop his vehicle nearby, but he sped away at speeds reaching 80 mph.

After deputies used stop sticks to flatten the vehicle’s two front tires, Brockman turned and intentionally ran into a cruiser. He then made a turn and ran into three more vehicles trying to get away.
