Pedestrian struck by car in Wyoming left seriously injured

WYOMING, Mich. — A elderly man struck by a car in Wyoming Monday afternoon was left with serious injuries.

Wyoming Police Department confirmed that the incident occurred around 3:30 p.m. in the area of S. Division Aveune near 39th Street.

The pedestrian, a 61-year-old man from Wyoming, suffered serious head injuries in the incident.

The man was crossing S. Division Ave., but did not use the crosswalk. He was standing in the center turn lane waiting for traffic to clear when he was hit.

The driver in the incident, a 21-year-old Grand Rapids man, did not see the elderly man when turning onto S. Division Ave. and struck him.

The 21-year-old is suspected of drunk driving and has been lodged in the Kent County Jail.

Wyoming Police Department is investigating this incident.
