WALKER, Mich. — A developer who was in the preliminary stages of a proposal to replace Lincoln Country Club with a mixed-use development has backed out of the project.

The proposal, which was described as “very preliminary” by Walker officials, would have built apartments, single-family homes and a mixed-use facility at the 105-acre Lake Michigan Drive property.

On Monday, the developer filed a request to withdraw their application with the Walker Planning Commission.

The City of Walker had scheduled a meeting for public comment on the proposal later this month, and the developer would have had to schedule their own as well before they could proceed with the project.

Neighbors to the property voiced concerns about traffic the development would bring to the area.
