A public memorial service for Mandy Karolkiewicz and her children will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 24, at Harvest Vertical Church in Grand Haven.

The family was killed at their Grand Haven Township home on July 24 in what investigators have called a murder-suicide involving Kristopher Karolkiewicz, Mandy's husband and the children's father.

Mandy's cousin, Emily Jones, said the family wants the memorial to focus on who Mandy and her children were and the lives they lived.
Jones previously spoke with FOX 17 just days after the family was killed. She said the news was something she never could have imagined.

"I just went into shock. I quite literally went to my knees and was just inconsolable," Jones said.
In the weeks since the tragedy, Mandy's family has worked to turn their grief into an effort to help others through the Mandy Karolkiewicz Family Foundation Fund.
The fund will support the Grand Haven community, including music and arts opportunities for students.
Jones said that work reflects some of the things Mandy cared about most.
“It's really about honoring how Mandy and the kids lived, music was such a huge part of their lives, so part of the fund supports music and arts opportunities for Grand Haven students.”
Another part of the fund will help meet students' everyday needs, particularly at the school where Mandy worked.
Jones said the outpouring of support from the Grand Haven community has meant a great deal to the family.
Now, the family hopes the community will come together to remember Mandy and her children. Jones said she believes that is something Mandy would have wanted.
"She would have prioritized healing, closure, and harnessing collective energy to make sure something good came out of this," Jones said.
The public memorial service will be held Monday, Aug. 24, at 11 a.m. at Harvest Vertical Church in Grand Haven.
A livestream option is also available for those who cannot attend in person here.
