GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — A man is facing multiple charges after an alleged armed robbery led to a standoff in Grand Rapids.

This all started around 11 p.m. Thursday when a suspect robbed the Town and Country Liquor Store near 44th and Kalamazoo in Grand Rapids.

Police arrived and heard gunshots coming from the area. They later determined the same suspect who robbed the store was firing shots into the air behind where the robbery took place.

Police ended up in a standoff with the suspect, a 36-year-old man, who was eventually taken into custody.

Grand Rapids police say an alleged drunk driver ended up crashing into a police cruiser that was responding to the standoff.

That driver was arrested for Operating While Intoxicated.
