GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — There will be changes in the annual Restaurant Week Grand Rapids, but the event will take place August 5 – 16.
Sponsoring organization Experience Grand Rapids is “changing the recipe.”
“We have revamped the event to provide a much-needed boost to our food businesses,” said Kate Lieto of Experience Grand Rapids in a release, “and we are looking forward to supporting the local eateries that make Grand Rapids a top foodie destination.”
Until now, participating restaurants have served special items for Restaurant Week, but this year eateries will not be required to create special event menus.
Instead, a digital component will be introduced: customers will access a digital pass on their smartphones. Upon checking into a participating restaurant, the customer earns a “return visit coupon” good for 60 days.
For customers who check into four or more restaurants, there’s a special “foodie themed gift,” which will be announced closer to the event.
For participating restaurants, the registration fee is being waived for this year.
