GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — At Mary Free Bed Rehabilitation Hospital, they know it is especially rough being stuck at the hospital during the holiday season.
Which is why this year they created an outdoor light display for their patients to feel the Christmas spirit.
“It’s an opportunity for our patients to experience a little bit of Christmas,” recreational therapist Deb Brewer said.
Brewer spent more than eight hours putting together the light display herself, so families could make some happy memories here.
“Just, do some normal Christmas activities that they might be missing from home,” Brewer said.
It was a magical moment for families. To carry on as "normally" as possible despite spending the holiday in the hospital being anything but normal.
