GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — The Kent County Prosecutor's Office will not file any charges in the fatal shooting of a man while he was forcing his way into a Grand Rapids home.
Adam Whitz was shot and killed after authorities say he broke into his ex's Hosueman Avenue home in the middle of the night after being asked to leave several times. He eventually got inside and got in a confrontation with a man who lived in the home, leading to Whitz being shot once in the chest.
When deputies arrived, Whitz was unresponsive and was declared dead at the scene.
On Tuesday, prosecutor's announced the man who shot Whitz will not be facing any charges in the incident.
Kent County Prosecutor Chris Becker said his office had gathered enough evidence to determine the man acted in self-defense, meaning no charges would be filed.
