GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — The streets of Grand Rapids remained calm during the first night of curfew.

Our FOX 17 crew saw one arrest near the intersection of Fulton and Ionia near the Grand Rapids Police Headquarters, which was blocked.

A guy on a bike approached police near the barricades surrounding the area. Police then tackled him. He told police he was headed to work and had to go through the area. He was later searched, arrested, and taken away in a police vehicle.

Other than that one incident, some people had been waiting to be arrested in Rosa Parks Circle, waiting with duct tape covering their mouths. They waited past curfew and were later arrested.

Additionally, the National Guard has been activated in the area. They could be seen setting up and ready to move near Market Avenue. At this time, National Guard members have not been patrolling the area, instead on hand if needed.
