FERRYSBURG CITY, Mich. — Multiple responders were called to US-31 in Ferrysburg City on Thursday in response to a 4-vehicle crash along the southbound lanes.
Witnesses described a semi truck making an attempt to enter US-31 from the on-ramp north of the drawbridge when the 50-year-old male driver struck a vehicle while entering the right lane, according to the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office.
The 60-year-old female driver of the vehicle that was struck reportedly lost control before colliding into a cement barrier. We’re told she suffered minor injuries and was subsequently transported to a nearby hospital.
Police say the woman’s 32-year-old passenger sustained moderate injuries and was also transported to a hospital.
Two additional vehicles were involved in the accident, authorities say, adding that their drivers suffered no injuries.
We’re told the driver of the semi truck was cited for violating lane use. Police say speed and alcohol are not believed to be factors in the accident.
Police say US-31 was closed for 2 hours.
