GOLDEN TOWNSHIP, Mich. — Crews responded to a fire that broke out at a Golden Township pizza restaurant Wednesday.
The Hart Fire Department (HFD) confirmed a lightning strike hit Silver Lake Pizza Factory in the afternoon, sparking the fire.
We're told wind and gas fueled the fire, which predominantly occurred on the south side of the building.
Crews say they shut off the gas and electricity, allowing them to extinguish the fire in a timely manner.
People were inside the building when lightning hit it, but no one was hurt.
Fire officials say the building remains salvageable with most of the damage located on the south side and in the attic. The interior suffered some amounts of smoke damage.
HFD credits the fire departments from Shelby and Pentwater for their assistance.
