The Rapid announces schedule changes to Route 1

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — The Rapid announced schedule changes to Route 1 - Division in Byron Township according to . The decision to reduce the level of contracted service provided within the township by “The Rapid” was made by the Byron Township Board of Trustees on Dec. 28, 2020.

On Jan. 18, 2021, the following changes to Route 1 will be happen:

Route 1 will serve the existing Byron Township “loop” (Division Avenue south of 60th Street, 68th Street from Division to Clyde Park, and Clyde Park north to the 54th Street Meijer) every sixty minutes from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday. (Before Byron Township’s, service was provided every thirty minutes.

The portion of Route 1 work with Byron Township during the schedule outlined above will be designated as Route 1B (Byron). GO!Bus paratransit service will remain normal, having service in Byron Township Monday through Friday, and will be available from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday’s.

This change happened because of a reduced annual contract with Byron Township. Also service will be added to Metro Health Village via 54th Street and Gezon Parkway. This will happen every sixty minutes from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday and every thirty minutes on weekday’s and Saturday evenings from 6 p.m. to 10:15 p.m., as well on Sunday from 6:30 a.m. to 7:15 p.m.
