GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — A Grand Rapids man has confessed to his father to killing two young people on the city's Southeast side.
Juan Nico Garcia is currently facing 7 different charges, including two homicide charges related to the deaths of Jai’onna Braden and Quavon Lee. Both were found dead inside of a parked car off of Bemis Street.
Garcia was previously in a relationship with Braden, which according to family was contentious. According to court documents, Braden and Garcia had agreed to meet each other.
Lee had known Braden since school and agreed to drive her to the location to meet Garcia. They were both found dead in a parked vehicle at that spot.
Court records detail how a jogger saw a man, believed to be Garcia, coming out of the car. Witness and cell phone records also corroborate that Garcia was in the area the time and day of the double homicide.
Quavon's mother saw Garcia for the first time since his arrest in court on Thursday, two months after her son's death.
“I wanted to jump, leap and hurdle and do all of the stuff on TV because you know, it’s a hurting thing when you hurt someone’s child or loved one. You want to inflict that pain on them," said Fatima. "Of course that is something that we can’t do in this day and age. It’s not an eye for an eye and a tooth for a too.”
