LANSING, Mich. — Gov. Gretchen Whitmer commented on a 'major law enforcement operation' Thursday afternoon.

“I never could have imagined anything like this,” the governor said in a prepared statement Thursday afternoon. She then thanked the authorities responsible for thwarting the conspiracy to kidnap her.
“2020 has been a hard year for all of us.” She goes on to describe the difficult situation that is the COVID-19 pandemic and how detrimental it has been to Michiganders this year.
On the subject regarding the kidnapping plot, Whitmer says, “We are not one another’s enemy. This virus is our enemy.”
She says the decisions she’s made this year were “gut wrenching” to make, but despite that “our hard work and sacrifices have saved thousands of lives.”
“I will never stop doing everything in my power to keep you and your family safe,” Whitmer adds.
“We are Michiganders. I know we can get through this. We will get through this.”
